How Team Leaders Can Boost Team Production by Teaching Time Management Skills
By Kim Mayes
Tick-tock… from giving weekly update meetings, mentoring new agents, keeping up with the marketing side of things, staging houses, meeting with clients and answering those emails… all those emails… it is no wonder that 80% of all real estate agents can experience burnout in the first two years. Do you feel overwhelmed just by reading it?! Well, do not fear! That is a big number and you do have a lot on your plate, however, by implementing some simple time management skills, we can take a lot of the pressure off and boost your company’s production in the process.
Here are my top 3 time hacks to help your team work smoothly and efficiently throughout the day, which will inevitably allow you more time to get those sales and have a healthy, happy, and eager crew!
Prioritize Tasks
Prioritizing your tasks is crucial. This goes for everything from printing spreadsheets for the next meeting to yes, your own personal self-care (like taking that lunch break)! Put it all on the calendar. Color code it in terms of importance level and stick to the list. If it is something that does not require your own personal attention, then do not be afraid to delegate out non-core responsibilities.
Automate Processes
Do not be afraid to let all the technology in! There are so many programs that have been developed these days to help you streamline your daily work practices. Take advantage of them and you will find yourself ahead of the curve.
Time management tools such as Trello and Asana are designed to help you stay on top of projects and coordinate tasks with team members.
The Google Workspace system of programs, such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Sheets, etc. has everything you need to keep things organized in the right place and available for you to access no matter when or where you might need it.
Programs like Adobe Express or Hootsuite are super time saving and can help you develop a content calendar for all your social media posts and marketing needs. Putting together a content calendar can allow you to set up times for things to be posted weeks in advance so you can save time in the daily grind.
And while we are at it, Adobe Express or other programs like Canva can help you create all your visual assets from flyers to Facebook posts in no time as well.

A Clear Vision
Without this one, tips 1 and 2 will not make a difference at all. It is imperative that there is a clear understanding across the board of daily habits and goals.
One way to do this is by setting up SMART goals for the team. SMART stands for specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound.
Set short-term goals, such as things that should get done by the end of the day, but also make sure long-term goals are posted somewhere prominently so everyone is keeping their eye on the end game as well.
Implementing changes like this can be challenging at the start, but as Nike would say, “Just Do It!” By learning how to efficiently prioritize tasks, automate processes and set a clear vision for your goals, you can quickly and easily boost your team’s productivity by teaching them these three simple time management tools.
